"Stranger Danger"

Wash your heart off with hot water,
wash your mouth out with the maker's meat
Walk until you kindly wander,
just make sure you're wandering towards me
You may wake as king tomorrow,
if tonight you can just stay off the street,
where i know you feel free

This is not for your eyes to see,
so won't you please stop staring at me
I think you better find a way out of here,
'cause i don't think you'll like what i've become
I think you better find a way out of here,
'cause i don't think you'll like what i've become

No, I cannot explain how we always find shelter from the rain
When it gets cold and we get carried away,
Now we suffer from sunday-window pain
You know, we will not be friends tomorrow
if tonight we just get under the sheets, and just feel free

This is not for your eyes to see,
so won't you please stop staring at me
I think you better find a way out of here,
'cause i don't think you'll like what i've become
I think you better find a way out of here,
'cause i don't think you'll like what i've become

You know, it's getting very hard for me,
to look in the mirror with no reflection of my face
But that is not the hardest part for me,
it's just knowing i won't see the light of day

Part two of my He Is Legend "It Hates You" series.

This shoot was so incredibly fun to coordinate! We shot it at the local theater depot down the street. The dressing room was just the type of atmosphere we were looking for, and I am so thankful the director let me use the space! We were even talking about a possible show for me so that is exciting! Nothing better than doing one in your hometown. I had to paper mache some masks, which I haven done since elementary school! 6th grad to be exact. And then painted them white.

FOR THOSE WHO; Journals

My friend Kyle Cunningham is starting his own journal making company, and asked me to photography a few of his samples for his website and shops he is selling in. I love journals and any kind of stationary, so I had fun! Once again, my favorite model Breanna (his girlfriend) came and did some shots for it. She's my favorite!

Check out his stuff at: www.forthosewho.com

Really sweet and woodsy-urban!

Lauren Senior Photos

While I was home over summer break, I shot my sister's best friend's senior photos! She is a sweet girl and I totally loved her tutu idea; shes currently taking dance lessons. What a fun way to use it! Plus shes a red-head, and I've got a secret love for all redheads! haha

Amanda and Brian Wedding!!!

Yay! I finally have a chance to post this stuff. About 3 weeks ago I shot Amanda and Brian's wedding, not knowing too much about them. But I'm a sucker for ANY kind of wedding, so seeing these two together was just perfect. It makes my job easy, really, when people can radiate love like these two. Enjoy.

Kym Senior Photos

While I was home over the summer, I took some senior portraits for my sister's best friend, Kym. She was a cheerleader, so it was fun coming up with some cute ideas for her! Hope she enjoys them. Heres a couple.

Don't Touch That Dial

A suitcase is a nice place
For a young man to call home
There just ain't no where to hang your hat from
And the wrong taste in the right place
Will burn an image on your tongue
Man, you've got to know where I am coming from

Something's wrong with the radio
It stopped playing the songs I know
I wish I may I wish I might
Get a little sleep tonight
Who me?
Trying to feel it
Maybe it'll come tonight

Don't sing that song unless you mean it
You gotta do it with a tear in your eye
Don't sing that song unless you mean it
Testify
Testify

It's not a truck stop
Not a road block
That's gonna make you lose your mind
Its the uncertainty of the day and time
And there's a foul smell in the hotel
I think i'm going to sleep outside
Man, you've got to know you put us in a bind

Something's wrong with the radio
It stopped playing the songs I know
I wish I may I wish I might
Get a little sleep tonight
Who me?
Trying to feel it
Maybe it'll come tonight

Don't sing that song unless you mean it
You gotta do it with a tear in your eye
Don't sing that song unless you mean it
Testify
Testify

I'm falling apart
Breaking my fucking heart
Would someone let me know
If they play a song I know

Trying to feel it
Dying to feel it

The Waiting Game

it seems like i'm always messing about, waiting for something. i'm so impatient its ridiculous. waiting for my first blurb book to show up, waiting for my goodies i've ordered to send them out with for people who buy them, waiting to start my new series, waiting to start school, waiting to graduate, waiting to get married...omg the list goes on and on. i'm in such a rush, aren't i? but life seems so slow now that it's summer and i can relax. literally, i've never been more relaxed. i work for myself in freelance, the most relaxing job i can think of. but it never seems enough. i guess i'm never full satisfied. i hope most people go through this so i'm not alone. i've much needed a small rant, for now. mind vomit=over.

i've been wanting to post some fun stuff on the blob, but i'm sort of at a loss. if you have an suggestions of what you would like me to post.....anything seriously. a Q&A, before and after, funny video...serious video...dumb ones. i dont care.

well, my blurb book is now out! still on pre-order. i'm opening it up to international orders tonight! yippee. take a look

a teeny tiny preview

I've been workin' hard on my 365 completion blurb book, and i think its coming out sweet! I'm posting some special stuff, like little journals, before and afters, tutorials, etc etc. All fun stuff you can learn from and enjoy! So far, it has about 86 pages, and I'm wondering if thats too much. Hmmm. Suggestions? What do you all think? Longer book? Or Keep it. (wish i could put all 365 in there, but....they arent all great! =p )

the inspirational flow between mind and object.

1. You're All Thats Left, 2. 67/365 I have nothing left to give., 3. candace re-edit, 4. Untitled, 5. Lani Dre, 6. * Adjusted version *, 7. tally, 8. girls of summer II, 9. As time floats by., 10. Untitled, 11. Untitled, 12. America America, 13. Untitled, 14. Untitled, 15. What winter hides, 16. the butterfly keeper, 17. 36/365, 18. Untitled, 19. Genesis of economic activity, 20. Last Mistake of the Day, 21. Home, 22. Untitled, 23. Just Say Yes, 24. dead to the world, 25. Day 222 - Forgotten Ghosts

I've never done one of these box things. But I thought it appropriate for my lack of drive for today. These artists above are what drive my inspiration deep into the soil, looking for roots to grab onto and grow. I had planned for another flickr post today, but due to my lack of drive and somehow "losing track of time" (yeah yeah yeah...excuses) I was unable to. It required going to the store to get my supplies and well- i just didn't feel like it. I had a senior session today and waking up so late makes me lose time I guess. Tomorrow I'm going down south to San Antonio! Very excited to go. So now I will put it on hold (this idea).

I DID, however, buy myself a flip camcorder to video tape all my future endeavors. Including my new project I'm starting which will take time, and man-handling of building skills. I'm creating sets. WOO!

see you all soon.

deep in the heart of texas

here i am, a week into my summer visit to home. i'll be honest and a little complain-ey and say its both the best and worst trip ever. i'm definitely having more fun than i usually do, mostly because my parents are home more often and we're doing fun things, but it's the worst because each time i have time to myself to reflect upon it, my heart breaks a little more knowing i'll be leaving. i wish things were different. like that i could stay in texas with my whole life in CA to come with me, but life is never that easy, is it? i take a deep breath every time i reflect upon this sadness.

later tonight, after i've had a nerdy reading session, i'll post a short and quick stop motion video! i've never tried it before, so it'll be fun. and ill ONLY be posting it on this blog, no where else :]

i think i'll start visualizing some more ideas soon. time is always running out.

sun in moderation

i'm enjoying every bit of being home. sleeping in the best bed know to human kind. seeing movies with my dad, catching SOME sun, and not all since i burn too easily, and being with my kitty. i miss him. i'm already dreading leaving. i'm so torn. it's hard to part with my family because i love them, and am close to them. it seems like it gets harder every time. i'm hoping this next semester of school i'll be able to see them more often. i think i will.

well, as far photography, i'm still kicking butt finishing a CD layout. i had no idea it would be so time consuming. BUT, i'm loving the results. hopefully you'll get to see it very soon! i'm having a small creative breakdown as well. its like the "oh crap, 365 is over, what do i do now?" except...i know i want to continue doing creative things with self portraits, or just in general. but i just need to gather myself and mind, and let it be known it can breathe for once and take the time to create something. i struggled with that so much in my 365. each day suffocated my creative thoughts, so that none was even there. i know what i'm capable of. and i'm not satisfied with myself yet.

oh no.

goodnight lovelies.

home at best.

i just arrived at home in dallas, texas last night. so pleased and incredibly grateful to be here! i have two homes, and its difficult. this is me and my precious kitty; napoleon. named after napoleon bonaparte because he is small for his species as well =p. today i woke up at 12pm, went swimming with my sister and mom, had a nice summer lunch, and sat around. if summer could get any better...well, i dont know if it can be. i'm throughly looking forward to all the crazy things my family and i will do, including ATV rides, San Antonio vacation, and trips to places i love. today i took my sister's senior pictures (both crazy and weird to do because shes all grown up now...well...sorta =p) and did so at a cool orchard. visit my flickr stream to get the update. all her friends want them now too! cute. :]

since the end of my 365, i've been working on editing past commissions, working on a brand new CD for a client, and starting my blurb book. that will be such a big project. how do you narrow down so many photos?! well, i will!...eventually. i hope to make it and sell it all for a reasonable price! hopefully blurb.com will be good to me :] i've also got some jewelry companies sending me some pieces of their's for me to model. SO FUN!

my boyfriend has been so inspirational to me, about what to do next with my Self Portraits on flickr. And we've come up with the PERFECT thing. Can't wait to start and show you all. It will be very different.

this is good night.
(i left a piece of me back in ca.)

Stephanie Kallos Book Cover!

YES! Finally, it has come in the mail. I was contacted in January about being on the cover of an Italian version of an English book here in the US. So, my first debut is now in Italy. So Fun! and so cool to actually see. :D :D

The photo used was Day 3 of my 365, I believe :] "bold." (thanks ana)

I just googled the title and found the image everywhere....AHHH!

FROM AMAZON SYNOPSIS:

"From Publishers Weekly
"The dead, Margaret thought. They can be so loud." So muses the protagonist of this dreamy, powerful tale of familial warring, secrets and redemption. When elderly Margaret Hughes discovers that she has a malignant brain tumor, she refuses treatment and decides to take a nice young tenant into her huge, lonely Seattle mansion for company. What she gets is Wanda Schultz, a tough-as-nails stage manager who is secretly seeking the man who left her and prone to inexplicable weeping breakdowns. Wanda, ignorant of Margaret's illness, is intrigued by the museum-like house and its eccentric owner—so when Margaret unexpectedly invites her to a drink-champagne-and-break-the-priceless-antique-china party for two, she's delighted. But a dark history lurks; the houseful of gorgeous antique porcelain comes from Margaret's father's WWII pilfering of European Jewish homes. Meanwhile, Wanda's father, who deserted her years ago, is on the road trying to heal, and Margaret's mother's ghost is haunting the Seattle mansion, lounging about in expensive peignoirs and criticizing her only daughter. Wrestling to keep the dead and the ghosts of their pasts at bay, the two women slowly build an extraordinary friendship, and when Wanda discovers a talent for mosaics, the past begins to quiet. Though it takes a while to get started, this haunting and memorable debut is reminiscent of early Atwood, peopled by lovably imperfect and eccentric characters."

What I've been up to:

it's been a while for me, and updates. trying to figure out what to excite or entertain you with. if you have any requests that you'd like to see (maybe a tutorial, a before and after, or a video) let me know! i'd love to hear what you all would like to see.

here are some lyrics that i re-dug from the "high school sweet heart song" list. i'm pretty sure all my friends melted and listened to this song one million times when it came out. but i found out that when i listen to one of these songs when i'm older and in a different conext, they take on a completely different meaning and rhythm for my life

"If you find yourself here on my side of town
I'd pray that you'd come to my door
Talk to me like you don't know what we ever fought about
Cause I don't remember anymore
I just know that she warms my heart
And knows what all my imperfections are
And she said that I was the brightest little firefly in her jar"
-Brightest, By Copeland.

-cant wait to be home near this Texas sky. this was taken last year right before a storm :]. i miss home, badly.
